Funny Boxer Story: Misty and the Rabbit
Misty was a beautiful white boxer with cropped ears and a docked tail. I had her for eleven years before she passed away in 2010. She was the sweetest dog and was gentle with everyone, even the cats. But Misty had a vice…she didn’t like rabbits and squirrels.
We lived out in the country with about 13 acres of land where Misty could roam free and do as she pleased. We had many other animals, including countless cats and even geese.
Misty generally got along with all of the other animals. We would even catch her sleeping in the garage with a few cats cuddled up next to her from time to time. Of course she would quickly get up, playing it off like she wasn’t just snuggling with kitties.
One day, Misty was doing regular dog stuff outside and made her way into the house. Nothing out of the ordinary.
As we were sitting in the living room, we noticed she did not look all that well. She sat in the middle of the room and started to make a heaving gesture.
“Oh, no, she’s gonna throw up”, I thought. “She must have ate something she shouldn’t have”.
I didn’t expect what was coming next.
Right there, in the middle of the living room, she throws up something much larger than anyone could have expected. A huge blob of substance just came out of her and no one could tell what it was. Whatever it was, it didn’t smell good.
It was a dead rabbit. Yeah, a dead rabbit! Not part of a rabbit, an entire rabbit! She somehow managed to go outside, catch a rabbit, and swallow the entire thing whole!
Needless to say, it was the most disgusting thing any of us had ever seen and I hope to never see anything like it again.
Misty was the best dog I ever had, and is probably some kind of legend to her dog peers. I mean, I didn’t know that was possible.
